Andy Heer

Scottish Conservative Councillor

Howe of Fife & Tay Coast

Scottish Conservative & Unionist councillor for Howe of Fife & Tay Coast

I’ve lived in Auchtermuchty for 30 years and was a community councillor for over 20 years until I was elected in 2012.

People right across the Howe of Fife and Newburgh know me well for my involvement in local voluntary organisations and for my reputation for getting things done.

In my spare time I enjoy walking my dog in our beautiful countryside and attending summer festivals. I used to be a computer programmer and web site designer but I find that being a councillor is a full time job if you give it the attention that it properly requires.

I beleive that we live in a beautiful and historic part of the world, and we need to look after it.

We want our youngsters to be able to grow up in a safe and healthy environment, for them to acquire an education and have somewhere to live when they start their own families and jobs so that they can support their families.

We want working vibrant communities where people work and live together to enjoy fulfilling lives.

My priorities for Howe of Fife & Tay Coast Ward:

  1. More money for roads maintenance and the reintroduction of a budget for unadopted roads.
  2. Organic growth of our rural towns and villages – small developments that don’t swamp the infrastructure or character.
  3. Small units and workplaces for local businesses so that people can walk to work rather than commute.
  4. Better bus and train services especially early in the morning and late at night.
  5. Superfast broadband for rural areas.
  6. Oppose the SNP’s obsession with a second referendum.

These are my priorities - what are yours?
